FAQ for the Viper I kit :
Do you have printed catalogues for the Viper I kit?
- No, all information is on this site. If you dont
see the answers to your all questions here, you can
send e-mail to: sukit@aimsworth.com.
How do you ship the Viper I or the parts?
- We ship larger parcels as the Viper I kit or the ACES
II seat via sea or airfreight. Sea freight is fairly
inexpensive, but requires you or an authorized shipper
to handle the final transport from the port to your
home. Smaller products are shipped generally via FedEx,
DHL or EMS parcel services. For more information, be
sure to check our shipping FAQ.
The original Aimsworth cockpit was huge and expensive
to ship. Does Viper I have the same problem?
- No, we have taken care of this completely. The cockpit
now ships in one box due to a complete re-design, and
shipping prices have gone down, compared with to previous
years.
Can I buy only the body?
- Yes, we expect make the body available separately
sometime later this year.
Can I buy the ACES II seat separately?
- Sure. Look for the ACES II seat kit in our product
listings.
Are the dimensions/angles of the interior accurate
to the real F-16?
- Yes they are. Only some minor exterior details are
not.
Can I fit other panels such as the ones from
Flightdeck solutions in your pit?
- You should be able to, but there may be small differences,
for example with our pre-drilled Block 50/52 center
panel. There are no guarantees of fit, however, with
other manufacturer's products. It is up to the owner
to make
whatever adjustments are required. We have done a huge
amount of research and are sure that our dimensions
are very accurate. Your success at integrating other
manufacturer's products will be directly related to
their efforts at accuracy. This risk is borne by the
owner. We recommend using Aimsworth parts exclusively
in bringing your cockpit to the peak of accuracy.
What Joystick/throttle combination do you suggest?
- We highly recommend the Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar
(hands on throttle and stick) combination. If one of
these beauties isn't within your budget, you may want
to try the Saitek X45. The X45 set does a good job at
much lower cost, although it looks less realistic.
When will you have your rudder pedal ready? What others
do you recommend?
- The Thrustmaster Elite is still available in some
places and the CH range of pedals does a good job too.
Our realistic F-16 pedals will be ready 3rd quarter
this year.
Do you have the canopy for the Viper I ready?
- Boy, you are devoted, aren't you? Unfortunately we
feel that a realistic canopy is still economically unfeasible
for the average simmer, given our current research into
production of this element of the cockpit. We hope to
solve this problem within the next 10 months.
Can I order the pit in other colors?
- No, but fiberglass is easily spray painted. Any good
acrylic lacquer will do.
I am a big guy over 6 feet. Can the seat be repositioned?
- Yes, the seat now has 4 fore-aft seating positions
that should fit almost everybody, with 10" of movement.
This is not 100% realistic, but it is the most effective
and comfortable solution within the constraints of a
home cockpit.
